It also received 4 inches of open cell foam on the rim joists and exterior walls. Sprayfoam insulation has the unique ability to fill gaps, nooks, and crannies to completely air seal the home. On the roof deck, we applied 2 inches of 2 lb closed-cell foam, which is a class II vapor barrier. In addition, 7 inches of .5 lb foam was applied to reach an R-38 value, as requested. On the walls, we applied 2 inches of 2.0 lb class II vapor barrier closed-cell foam to the perimeter walls. The result is a building that has superior insulation and will save on energy costs for years to come.
